Wolf Creek

I did a bit of fan art for one of my favourite horror antagonists, the psychopathically sadistic and charmingly affable Mick Taylor from the Wolf Creek franchise.

I think Mick is such a great horror character because he is in many ways completely believable (due a great deal to John Jarratt’s outstanding performance in the role). Mick is every backcountry bigotry hiding in the hinterlands of the world; a distinctly human menace with an almost primeval ferocity. Set against the massive, dreamlike, often surreal environment of the Australian outback, the exploits of the shanty-singing, knife-slinging pig-hunter are a goddamned bloody joy to watch.
